During World War II, the island was occupied, and to get a glimpse into that history, a visit to the Bunker museum is a must. This small museum offers an insightful look into life on the island during the war. A little further along, you’ll find the Wassermann bunker, which is freely accessible and open for exploration.
Not far from the museum is one of the island’s top restaurants: De Marlijn. This charming beach pavilion boasts a beautiful terrace where you can spend hours enjoying drinks and delicious food. Their beer, whisky, and wine selections are extensive, and the drinks menu is well worth exploring. With a focus on regional ingredients, every dish is wonderfully fresh and flavorful.
As you cycle back towards the village and ferry, you’ll pass Berkenplas - a perfect spot for families. Kids can take a dip in the small lake while you relax with a snack and a drink. From there, it’s just a 10-minute ride back to the ferry, leaving you feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated!
