Social responsibility

A good result is achieved by investing in quality in the longer term; this is in line with the business philosophy of Dutchen. Dutchen contributes to corporate social responsibility in various ways.

WASTE SORTING AND CLEANING

During their stay, guests are encouraged to separate waste through waste bins with different compartments and waste stations for different types of waste. The Dutchen cleaning team works as much as possible with biodegradable cleaning agents and with the microfibre cloth technique to minimise the use of cleaning agents.

In addition, we choose not to seal our linen. For a four-person house, this easily saves ten plastic bags at a time. That may not seem like much but for all homes, at all our parks, that means saving a huge mountain of plastic every year.

BICYCLE RENTAL

Dutchen rents out bicycles and stimulates guests to explore the surroundings as much as possible in a non-demanding way.

DUTCHEN RIDES GREEN

Dutchen has a fleet of cars that include fully hybrid or plug-in hybrids. Because of this conscious choice, Dutchen contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

DUTCHEN SUPPORT JUST DIGGIT

Justdiggit is committed to creating a green, liveable planet for now and for the future. The organisation Justdiggit works hard to preserve and restore eco- and climate systems and prevents their destruction caused by climate change and overexploitation. They do this by applying special rainwater and soil protection techniques at strategically chosen locations in e.g. East Africa and Morocco.

Dutchen supports Justdiggit and gives you, as a guest of Dutchen, the opportunity to contribute by making a donation when making a reservation for a Dutchen holiday home. Read more about Just Diggit

The cleaning team works with biodegradable cleaning agents as much as possible and uses the microfibre cloth technique in order to keep the use of cleaning agents to a minimum.

DUTCHEN AND MARIE-STELLA-MARIS; Care for you. Care for water.

During your stay at Dutchen, we will be happy to pamper you with exquisite care products from Marie-Stella-Maris. In this way, Dutchen contributes to making water and hygiene available in places where tap water is not yet as commonplace as it is here.

Marie-Stella-Maris is a Dutch brand with a social mission: clean water for everyone, everywhere. By selling products such as natural mineral water, natural care products and luxurious home fragrances, Marie-Stella-Maris contributes to this mission. For every product sold, Marie-Stella-Maris donates a fixed amount to its own foundation, which supports projects that strive for clean (drinking) water and hygiene worldwide. Read more >

Sustainable holiday accommodations

Without exception, the Dutchen villas, lodges and suites are located in the most beautiful places in the Netherlands. Places where leisure time in nature is enjoyed.

Equipment for the houses are selected on the most economical energy label AA+.

In order to reduce the number of transport movements in the operation, mainly local partners are engaged for cleaning and maintenance. The same applies to our employees, who live near the holiday homes. Incidentally, this works sustainably in several ways. Emissions are not only reduced, local employment is also stimulated and the local economy benefits from renting out to Dutchen guests. Dutchen also cooperates with local partners when it comes to bicycle rental or sandwich service.

Social impact

Dutchen brings about distinctive developments. Through its market approach and the choices it makes in the development of its stays, it attracts guests who are more concerned with their environment and attach more importance to a sustainable holiday. This is reflected in the number of guests using it to contribute to ‘Just Diggit’, an organisation dedicated to a green, liveable earth by preserving and restoring eco- and climate systems.

Dutchen parks have no central facilities and guests are encouraged by making use of the local middle class through collaborations with Dutchen. Guests are actively encouraged to go out and get to know its surroundings.

Think Green

Corporate sustainability is of great importance to Dutchen.

When maintaining our holiday parks, we use as many sustainable materials as possible.
For example, the homes at our parks are cleaned with environmentally-friendly products that carry the eco-label. An eco-label is a quality mark awarded to products or services with a lower environmental impact than qualitatively similar products or services, based on a number of predetermined criteria.
In addition, toilet paper with the FSC label is used in the homes. Using FSC directly contributes to the protection of our global forests and a healthy living environment for people and animals worldwide. Because in this way you give the forest economic value, you ensure that it is preserved.

Our aim is to contribute to promoting environmental awareness among our employees and suppliers. We kindly ask you to consciously apply some simple daily actions during your stay at our holiday parks.

You can ensure a sustainable stay as well by paying attention to a few points:

• Turn down the thermostat in the evening and when leaving your holiday home; all homes at our holiday parks have excellent insulation.
• Unplug the charger when equipment such as mobile phones are not being charged.
• Separate your glass, plastic and residual waste and dispose of it in the designated waste containers at the park entrance.
• Use water sparingly when showering, brushing your teeth and washing your hands.
• Do not leave lights on unnecessarily everywhere.
• Do you use the air conditioning (if present)? Then close all windows and doors.
• When you are not using the Jacuzzi or whirlpool (if present), close the lid to keep the water warm.

Marie Stella Maris

Care for you. Care for water.

During your stay at Dutchen, we like to pamper you with fine care products by Marie-Stella-Maris. In this way, Dutchen contributes to the availability of water and hygiene, where water from the tap is not yet as natural as in the Netherlands.

Clean water for everyone

Marie-Stella-Maris is a Dutch brand with a social mission: clean water for everyone, everywhere. Through the sale of products such as natural mineral water, natural personal care products and luxury home perfumes, Marie-Stella-Maris contributes to this. For every product sold, Marie-Stella-Maris donates a fixed amount to their own foundation to support projects that make clean (drinking) water and hygiene accessible worldwide.

Social mission

The Marie-Stella-Maris Foundation has already supported 13 water projects, helping more than 45,000 people gain access to water. In 2019, the brand celebrated a special moment; reaching the milestone 1,000,000 euros for clean drinking water. In addition to the social mission, it is important for Marie-Stella-Maris to develop products that make a positive contribution to people's well-being; products that care, look beautiful, smell great or simply make you happy.

Marie-Stella-Maris in your holiday home

In your Dutchen holiday home, you can enjoy Marie-Stella-Maris Hand & Body Soap and Shampoo. These products are packed in bottles of recycled material, made from the waste of the sugarcane plant. We specifically chose larger bottles that refill to reduce waste. Want to know more about Marie-Stella-Maris?
