Good food is part of a holiday, who can deny that? Extensive cooking in your cottage, or going out to enjoy culinary delights in a cosy eatery or a chic restaurant.

From Suitelodges Gooilanden, you can be in the centre of Hilversum or on the Gijsbrecht van Amstelstraat, Hilversum's nicest shopping street, in no time at all. Less than 10 minutes' drive and a culinary world will open up for you.

Start your day with a coffee or delicious breakfast at Koffie&Jij in the centre of Hilversum. You can also go here for lunch or drinks, by the way. The latter also applies to Brasserie Meddens. In the evening, the menu mainly features fish. So fish lover, you know where to go!

Are you in the centre of Hilversum and would rather stock up on goodies to eat at home in your holiday home? Then go to Vega Paradijs for tasty vega(n) snacks from Mediterranean cuisine. From humus with caramelised onions to delicious salads. A matching special beer to accompany your drinks can be found at Bierwinkel BarBier

In the Gijsbrecht van Amstelstraat - an absolute must for shopping - you will find Het Olijvenhuis. Here you can stock up on delicious olives, tapenades and spreads for drinks in your holiday home. Buy your bottle of wine to go with it at Mijn Hemel wijnen.

At La Petite Creperie eat delicious crepes and galettes and imagine yourself in France for a moment.

Foodhall MOUT - a 9-minute drive from Suitelodges Gooilanden - serves breakfast, lunch and drinks. Small dishes from world cuisine, perfect for sharing. Italian, Asian and South American. There is something for everyone. A cosy foodhall, with table service, which is nice. By the way, foodhall MOUT is also the home of the Gooische Bierbrouwerij. So be sure to try one of this brewery's 15 beers!

On the edge of the city, a 15-minute drive away, you'll find Chef aan de Werf restaurant in a former pharmaceutical factory. Delicious food - everything is format 'entremets' - in a unique location.

Outside the city

Bistrotel 't Amsterdammertje is a cosy restaurant with a waterside terrace. At the little sister of star restaurant 't Amsterdammertje - led by chef André Gerrits - you can go any time of the day. Ideal for any occasion. You can reach this restaurant within 15 minutes.

A 10-minute drive from your Suitelodge is Proeflokaal De Serre, a greenhouse in the middle of nature. You can go here for coffee (with something sweet), lunch and drinks. Tip: take a walk around the 's-Gravelandse Buitenplaatsen - for example, the 3.27 km route Hilverbeek en Spanderswoud – and finish with a snack and drink at Proeflokaal de Serre.

Want a truly special culinary experience? Then dine at one of the themed aanschuifdiners at Vineyard Zonnestraal. Think long, beautifully laid tables with delicious food and, of course, wine from the vineyard. Rather picknicken – with wine of course! - in the vineyard? That is possible from March to October on Fridays
