For children with a swimming diploma, Baayvilla's is a paradise. As the water is freely accessible, it is less suitable for very young children.
The villas are stylishly and carefully furnished. They are comfortable, spacious, and bright. From the patio doors, you step onto the terrace with a fire pit. Some villas have a private whirlpool on the terrace. Here, you can start your day peacefully with a view of the tranquil water and end the day with a breathtaking sunset over the lake.
If you want to experience the bustling life of a city, Leeuwarden and Groningen are within a 45-minute drive. The charming city of Dokkum is only 20 minutes away.
Baayvilla's is the ideal stay for water sports enthusiasts, children, nature lovers, and those seeking tranquility. For families with children (who have a swimming diploma), this place is a paradise in the summer. The Lauwersmeer is right at the terrace of your villa, so you can swim, paddleboard, and play in the water without having to go far. But if you do want to explore further, there is plenty to do in the area.
Lauwersmeer National Park, Dark Sky Park
This nature reserve is characterized by its open and expansive landscape. Lauwersmeer National Park is an attractive habitat for various animals and plants. You can enjoy endless walking and cycling here. Lauwersmeer National Park has been officially designated as a Dark Sky Park. At night, you can experience true darkness and see a clear starry sky. This designation is quite special; there are only 41 Dark Sky locations worldwide.
Water activities
When your holiday home is located near the water, water activities almost go without saying. There are various boating routes by Natuurmonumenten (Nature Monuments) that lead you to spots where you can spot beautiful birds. Additionally, you can go sailing, surfing, rowing, water skiing, and paddleboarding on the vast lake. Next to Baayvilla's, there is a sailing school where you can rent canoes, paddleboards, surfboards, and sailboats.
Mudflat hiking
With the Lauwersmeer at the front and the Wadden Sea at the back, Park Baayvilla's is within walking distance of the Wadden Sea, making it ideal for a mudflat hiking trip. Mudflat hiking is a unique and sportive experience in the middle of nature. The seabed of the Wadden Sea becomes exposed during low tide, allowing you to take a special walk across the sea floor. There are different mudflat hiking tours to choose from.
Seal spotting
When you stay so close to the Wadden Sea, a seal expedition is almost a must. Various seal watching boat tours are offered. You sail along sandbars, the Wadden Sea, and the North Sea in search of seals. A visit to the Pieterburen Seal Center is also highly recommended.
Schiermonnikoog
Just a few minutes' walk from Park Baayvilla's is the Lauwersoog harbor, where the boat to Schiermonnikoog departs five times a day. It's a great day trip. If you have a bicycle with you, be sure to take it on the boat. You can easily cycle around the island.
